The Callan Method was born in England in 1960 and is now used by 500 schools in 30 countries around the world.
It remains the largest English conversation school in London.
The Cambridge English Proficiency Test normally takes 350 hours to pass, but at Callan we are proud of our 95% success rate, with students passing in 80 hours, one quarter of that time. This data has been proven in many countries around the world.
We recommend that children have a level of Eiken 4.
Even for those with intermediate or higher skills.We will not start the material in the middle of the course.
1. Start with Stage 1.
It may be easy at the beginning, but it soon becomes difficult. Even intermediate level students should start from the beginning. If you have taken a course at another school, please let the instructor know and continue the course.
2. Textbooks are not required for lessons. (Cannot be viewed)
During the lesson, the students will be looking at the "see chart", but not the text. The "see chart" is mainly used in Stage 1. Later on, the lesson will be transitioned to a completely blank, interactive lesson with the teacher.
3. The instructor repeats the question twice.
In the Callan Method, the teacher will ask you a question twice and then you will answer in full sentences. If you do not know the answer to a question, you can ask the teacher to give you the answer immediately by saying "Teach me the answer" or "Answer please". This will shorten the waiting time. You will be instructed repeatedly until you can answer the questions smoothly at the end.
4. Think only about memorizing the answers on the spot.
Originality is not necessary. Concentrate on answering the questions in a mechanical, robotic manner. This is the training method. If you want to have a conversation, please take a separate lesson. If you are asked the same questions over and over again, it is okay if you can't answer them right away at first. As the lesson progresses, you will be able to answer the questions better.
5・Contractions are used in lessons Generally, in conversation, you will answer in the contraction form, so you will learn it in the contraction form. He is is He's It is It's I am is I'm.
6. There is a part to type using the chat box.
This lesson method is called dictation. If your child is not able to type, just say "I want to skip this part" to the instructor. Adults are encouraged to try it without skipping. It has an important meaning and is included in the lesson. By writing down the words, you will acquire the feeling necessary to improve your pronunciation.
Try to continue without much interval until 7/stage 9.
Continuous training is absolutely necessary for English to come naturally out of your mouth. By way of comparison, a "fluent" speaker has at least 3,000 hours of study time. The most effective lesson time is 50 minutes a day, 5 days a week. For me, 50 minutes was too long, so I took a 25-minute lesson every day. For me, I lost my fear of English after taking Callan.
